On April 3, 2003 future members of the Worcester Rowing Club met to approve the list of Board of Directors and to officially adopt the Club Bylaws.
Paul Haskel, with the assistance of Regan Smith, has completed and submitted our Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws. We are well on our way toward gaining the 501 (C) (3) status that is normally given a rowing club. Many thanks to Paul and Regan for their hard work.
Members present discussed the need to gather everyone together in order to generate the enthusiasm necessary to move forward with securing membership for all who have expressed interest. Rick Vach has volunteered to head up an effort to get the word out to potential members. He suggested meeting in a “festive” atmosphere giving all an opportunity to show their support and will inform the local press of the event.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Beatty have offered to help the club in possibly providing a temporary launch site at their home on Gum Point Road on Herring Creek. Everyone was for their stepping forward in an effort to assist the club. Their generosity cannot be overstated.
J.D. Quillin, who along with Rick Vach is an alumni of St. Andrew’s School in Middletown, Delaware, and a former oarsman, has come on board to help us out. J.D. has been looking for a boat for some years and this may be the thing to send him over the edge.
Everyone was asked to fill out a membership application so we have the necessary information on file. Each member will need to have a swim test form signed by a certified lifeguard and sign a waiver of liability that is provided by US Rowing and is a required to enter an US Rowing sanctioned event. There was general agreement that the membership fees on the form were acceptable. If you have not done so, please complete these forms at the next event. Look or them at: www.worcesterrowing.org
Time to start rowing!
